Introducing KLMN-LP 106.9 FM
Before social media platforms and streaming, radio and television offered people a source of connection. We felt that radio should be an essential resource, accessible to all who live on and visit our treasured mountain home. After years of patience and long-term planning, our low power community radio station is finally on the air.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) only accepts applications for low power stations once every decade. In addition, legal agreements had to be signed, music had to be licensed, hardware had to be purchased and installed and automation software had to be configured. As with any passion project on the mountain, we had to accept it would take over ten years to develop.
Our interest in broadcasting began in high school and continued throughout life. We have been involved in education and outreach for over 20 years. We are licensed amateur (ham) radio operators to be of service to others for safety and communication. Our organization, the Mount Lemmon Radio Club, is a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit, focused on improving communications on Mount Lemmon. The radio repeaters that we have operated for several years have provided an extra measure of safety for ham radio operators traveling to and from Mount Lemmon. The LPFM station expands our reach to the general public, by providing education, safety information, updates on community events and a source of connection for our visitors and residents. As a neutral community resource, we will shy away from political and religious content.

- Fire and Water Restrictions
- Weather Information
- Traffic advisories, as provided by our local deputies
- Silver, Amber, and Turquoise Alerts
- Community Announcements Including a Community Calendar
- Music arranged by the decade, from the 1920s to the 2000s
- Campfire/Night Time Story hour for families during the Summer
- Specialty music hours such as local artists, folk and bluegrass.
